Accelerating MedTec: Lucid Reality Labs joined the Medical Enterprise Technology Consortium

Lucid Reality Labs entered 2024 with another significant partnership by joining the Medical Enterprise Technology Consortium (MTEC).

The Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium is an internationally dispersed biomedical technology consortium, collaborating with multiple government agencies under a 10-year renewable Other Transaction Agreement (legal contract with the federal government to streamline the R&D) with the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command. The Consortium focuses on accelerating the development of revolutionary medical solutions that protect, treat, and optimize the health and performance of U.S. military personnel and civilians.

With the number of members exceeding 600 organizations, MTEC collaborates with federal health agencies and enhances relations with the Defense Health Agency (DHA), Development Command (USAMRDC), American Psychiatric Association Foundation (APAF), the Milken Institute Health Summit, the American Brain Coalition, the Orthopedic Research and Education Foundation, and many more.

MTEC focus areas:

  • Military Infectious Diseases: aims to prevent, predict, and treat infectious disease threats to eliminate their impacts on operational readiness and performance.
  • Combat Casualty Care: reduce mortality and morbidity associated with combat-related trauma – from the battlefield to U.S. hospitals.
  • Medical Simulation and Information Sciences: transition more capable healthcare information and medical simulation technologies into relevant military healthcare applications.
  • Military Operational Medicine: maximize health, readiness, and performance by countering stressors and preventing physical and psychological injuries during training and operations.
  • Clinical and Rehabilitative Medicine: reconstruction, rehabilitation, and definitive care for injured Warfighters to improve the standard of care and outcomes, return Service members to full form and function, and ultimately restore the Warfighter to duty and improve his or her quality of life and more.

From the non-invasive, portable solution for on-the-spot detection and continuous monitoring of concussions and strokes to the development of a Universal Bioreactor Platform for Regenerative Medicine Clinical Manufacturing, the Consortium aims at keeping the “military medical enterprise healthier and stronger than ever”, stresses MTEC Chair Ellen Embrey.

“We are looking forward to a productive collaboration in order to bring the most of the XR potential to the military healthcare solutions and impact,” says Lynn Welch, Chief Growth Officer at Lucis Reality Labs.
